Avicii. That was my first thought after listening to ‘Back To You’. Some might say this sounds way too commercial for them, but there’s just something else about this track that puts a huge smile on my face. From the beautiful starting arpeggio to the vocals, to that simple yet heartwarming drop is amazing. I was briefly transported back to the 2012-13 era. This track has something most big room and progressive houses nowadays are missing. There’s just some magic to it. And I’m not surprised. After all, Nicky Romero is one of the best to ever do it.
Nicky Romero. Still on top of the game
With Daft Punk breaking up, I’ve gotten to appreciate those who were my entrance into EDM more and more. Nicky Romero was one of them. From ‘Toulouse’ to ‘Lighthouse’ to the iconic ‘I could be the one’ Romero is one of the ultimate progressive house legends. I’m glad to see he’s still got it. And I really mean it. Romero still knows how to make progressive house make sense. The emotion of standing on a festival, surrounded by people, lights, confetti. It’s just amazing. Nothing but respect for Romero. Hopefully, every DJ who’s still into progressive house and big room can learn something for him. The genre is not dead. It just needs you to put your heart and soul into it.
