The success of a new blue vinyl edition of Daft Punk’s 2010 ‘Tron Legacy’ soundtrack has seen the album appear at the summit of Billboard’s latest Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
The album was recently reissued in special blue and clear vinyl editions as Target exclusives, and sales data shows that 94% of the 10,000 units sold of the album between 10th and 16th December were physical copies. This is particularly significant amid the usual dominance of digital sales and streaming figures in today’s charts.
Billboard said that the album’s recent return to the top of the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart was the soundtrack’s 11th total week in that spot, and its first since April 2011.
The reissue of the soundtrack follows on from Daft Punk’s announcement in early 2021 that they were calling it quits after 28 years as a duo.
A new book, ‘After Daft’, set to be published in 2023 will look at Daft Punk’s legacy and cultural impact.
